I know, second feature post tonight. This might be a quick way to get some extra incentive to the potential users of this script. Note, this is for a point site system option and NOT a referral site. (as that kind of defeats the purpose).

Though, I am sure, there are both pros and cons to this argument.. it could still be an optional feature perhaps? or even an addon?

I know that other traffic-based incentive sites offer it and I do not recall seeing an point styled scripts having this. (I could be wrong though, as I havent really looked around too much before finding FSRevolution).

Ontop, perhaps to add another %-based layer.. where you can choose what % you get from purchased referrals?

Ie:

% of referral points from the referral to the referrer: 10%
% of referral points from the bought referral to the referrer: 5%
(The webmaster can fluctuate it as he sees fit?)

It would also be a quick way to get some extra money to the owner of the site, too.

I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to, but the points and cash versions of sites have the ability to credit a variable percentage to original referring user.

What I meant was... Lets say your running a point based site. You managed to refer 9 people that earn you 10% from what they make. You are working your way to try and get one of the bigger prizes. 8 of those people, for whatever reason, become inactive.

There are countless other users already in the system who are not referred by anyone else.

My suggestion, as contraversial, was to give the option for you to "purchase" them (with real money) as referrals. Those non-referred members would then become referred by you. Mind you, it should be chosen randomly in all fairness.

Thats also why I suggested, if FSrev wished to go with this, an even lowered amount for bought referrals, to counter the chaos it might bring.

I see. I don't think we would be interested in implementing something like this unless a lot of people really wanted it. I think there are probably some sort of legal (and moral) issues with it, so I don't think this will be implemented any time.

This is very popular on PTC sites. In fact, this is HOW ptc owners make money.

They sell Unreferred members so other people can earn a percentage (actually a fixed value) of what they do.

This would be nice to have it in this system.

Please consider this possibility. this is HUGE.

hundreds of people join without referrer, so, as an extra way to monetize the site, we could sell those unreferred members and people WILL buy them because they know they will be earning money from them.

What do you think?

How does the user know they'll be earning from the purchased referral? What if the referral goes inactive and doesn't actually complete anything?

Again, we see no merit in including this in FSR, but that doesn't mean you couldn't request it as a customization. However, we'd have to have our attorney look into this practice to see if there are any legal issues with it before we'd take on the job.
